Race Summary

Starr Jaycee Park, Royal Oak, MI

Advanced Registration Fees*:

$20 for 18 & under, $25 for over 18

Same-Day Entry Fees:

$25 for 18 & under, $30 for over 18

Children 12 & Under:

FREE but must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian. Additional T-shirts will be available for sale on race day.

Additional Race Info:

Light refreshments will be available before and after the race.  Restrooms will be available at the Starr Jaycee Park pavilion.  Wheelchairs, strollers, and dogs on leashes permitted in the 5K walk start.  Please clean up after your pets.

Goals:

To show people suffering from mental illness or those surviving suicide that they are not alone.  To raise money for other 501(c)(3) organizations conducting brain research and/or facilitating suicide prevention programs and, ultimately, save lives.

Charities:

The University of Michigan Depression Center and NoResole - A Music-Based Youth Suicide Prevention Program.

Directions

Starr Jaycee Park is located on the south side of 13 Mile Road, just east of Crooks Road but west of Main Street. Participants are to meet at the west park pavilion located south of the larger pavilion and playground area.

From Detroit: Take I-75 north to the 12 Mile Road exit. Turn left (west) on 12 Mile. Turn right (north) on Main Street. Turn left (west) on 13 Mile. Starr Jaycee Park is on the left.

From Flint: Take I-75 south to the 14 Mile Road exit. Turn right (west) on 14 Mile. Turn left (south) on Main Street. Turn right (west) on 13 Mile. Starr Jaycee Park is on the left.

From Grand Rapids / Lansing: Take I-96 east to 696 (towards Port Huron). Take 696 east to the Woodward/Main Street exit. Turn left (north) on Main Street. Turn left (west) on 13 Mile. Starr Jaycee Park is on the left.

From Kalamazoo / Battle Creek: Take I-94 east to M-14. Take M-14 east to 275. Take 275 north to 696. Take 696 east to the Woodward/Main Street exit. Turn left (north) on Main Street. Turn left (west) on 13 Mile. Starr Jaycee Park is on the left.

From Ann Arbor: Take US-23 north to M-14. Take M-14 east to 275. Take 275 north to 696. Take 696 east to the Woodward/Main Street exit. Turn left (north) on Main Street. Turn left (west) on 13 Mile. Starr Jaycee Park is on the left.

From Detroit Metro Airport (DTW): Take I-94 east to M-39/Southfield Freeway. Head north on Southfield Freeway (Southfield Freeway turns into Southfield Rd). Take Southfield Rd to 696. Take 696 east to the Woodward/Main Street exit. Turn left (north) on Main Street. Turn left (west) on 13 Mile. Starr Jaycee Park is on the left.

Parking

Parking is first come-first serve on all residential streets surrounding Starr Jaycee Park and the M.O.M. race course. Please obey all no parking regulations including temporary no parking signs that are posted along impacted streets.

Participants may also park in the following city-owned parking lots (see map below) 

1. The two Jaycee Park parking lots on the south side of 13 Mile Road, just east of Crooks Road.

2. The Mahony/Meinigner Senior Community Center (3500 Marais, R.O. MI 48073), which is just north of the park on the east side of Marais.

3. The R.O. Board of Education (1123 Lexington Blvd., R.O. MI 48073) which is located directly across from the Senior Center.

4. The Total Soccer dome (1319 Lexington Blvd., R.O. MI 48073).

5. The Royal Oak High School (1500 Lexington Blvd., R.O. MI 48073) southeast parking lot across from the soccer dome.

*For your convenience, advanced packet pick-up will be available at the Mahany-Meininger Senior Center, 3500 Marais, Royal Oak on Friday, April 30th from 5 - 9 PM.

Course Map

The MOM race will start and end at the intersection of Cedar and Butternut on the south side of Starr Jaycee Park. The residential road race will take place in the Royal Oak neighborhoods between Crooks Road & Main Street and 12 & 13 Mile Roads.
