Make a Donation


Can't participate in the MOM race but would like to support the cause?  Make a donation!

  • All donations are tax deductible under 501(c)(3) because Mind Over Matter is an approved IRS tax-exempt non-profit organization.  An official receipt needed for tax reporting purposes will be issued for contributions of $250 or greater.
  • Your donation will benefit charities dedicated to mental health research, education, awareness, and suicide prevention in Michigan.

There are three methods for making a donation:

     1.     Online:  Make a credit card donation through signmeup.com

     2.     Via Mail:  Make check payable to "Mind Over Matter" and mail to:

     3.     Race Day:  Show up at Starr Jaycee Park Pavilion on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 8 am to noon.
             Cash or checks made payable to "Mind Over Matter" will be accepted.  Sorry, no credit card
             transaction capabilities.



Volunteer

We are actively seeking enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to help coordinate the MOM race on Saturday, May 1, 2010. Volunteer work may include:

  • Set-up
  • Same-day registration
  • Packet pick-up for pre-registered participants
  • Race course logistics
  • Finish line coordination
  • Post-race refreshments
  • Awards ceremony coordination, and/or
  • Clean-up activities.

All race-day volunteers will receive a commemorative race t-shirt and be recognized during the awards ceremony following the race.


Interested in becoming a race-day volunteer?

Send an e-mail to volunteer@mindovermatterrace.org. In the body of the e-mail include your name, address, phone number, time availability on race day, adult t-shirt size, and your volunteer preference (if you have one). Please include any physical restrictions/disabilities that could limit your volunteer capabilities (if applicable).

The Volunteer Director will contact you to confirm your volunteer status.  All volunteers must attend the volunteer meeting on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 6-9 PM at Royal Oak High School (individual meeting times will vary based on volunteer assignment).  If you cannot make it to the volunteer meeting, you must coordinate another in-person meeting with the MOM Volunteer Coordinator before the race to get your t-shirt and go over race-day duties.

Other Ways to Help

In addition to participating in the run/walk, donating or becoming a business sponsor, there are other ways you can help support the MOM race.

Do it yourself advertising!

  • Download the 2010 MOM race flyer and get promoting! ---COMING SOON!
  • Display/distribute race advertisements at your school, church, workplace, etc.
  • Be sure to ask permission before posting signs on private property and obey all solicitation prohibitions.
  • If you’re interested in obtaining color flyers or poster, send an e-mail to advertising@mindovermatterrace.org. In the body of the e-mail include your name, address, phone number, and the quantity of flyers requested.

Fundraise to Win!

  • Download the fund-raising form HERE and begin soliciting donations.
  • Ask your friends, neighbors, co-workers, employer, etc. to help you in your endeavor to support this worthy cause.
  • Fund-raising packages (completed forms, individual checks, and a single check made payable to “Mind Over Matter” to cover all cash donations) are due by 8:30 AM on race day.
  • The individual who raises the most money will win a prize and be acknowledged during the awards ceremony following the race.

Start a company campaign!

  • Download the 2010 MOM race flyer and promote the event to all employees. ---COMING SOON!
  • Form a team and/or encourage participation in the team challenge
  • Provide company matching for donations made by employees.
  • Provide incentives (e.g., casual dress attire allowance) to employees who register, sign-up to volunteer, or make a donation
