To put the person who matters most in my life in the spotlight. Mom

I have seen how mental illness can affect a person on a day-to-day basis. I can relate towards mental illness and believe more needs to be done to control these illnesses.

To support a wonderful friend and reduce the stereotypes that surround mental illness

To support M.O.M. started by a great person and friend.

I think it's an inspired way to honor the memory of a loved mom.

Due to a string of family history in depression and schizophrenia and because this race supports a great cause.

For moral support and to support more research

My brother committed suicide.

I love my mom and my life wouldn't be the same without her.

I've been a mental health professional for about 30 years.

I work at St. John Oakland Hospital in mental health. I feel it is very important to spread the word about mental illness give people with mental illness a voice and eliminate the stigma.

Because a very good friend of mine just lost her dad to suicide... and this is an amazing idea!

I am so moved by the work Julie and her family have done to promote suicide awareness. I want to support their cause.

Sounds like a good charity and I like to run in these type of events.

I am participating in the race to celebrate the wonderful life of Gail Boledovich and to support her family and future research.

I am a thirty one year old professional female who has been battling depression since I was a teenager. As a teen, I only had one depressive episode. My depression has gotten worse as I have gotten older. Your story really touched me and I really admire how you have encouraged others to talk about mental illness. If half of my co-workers and friends knew about my illness they would be shocked.

My daughter suffers from depression.

My son and my niece both suffer from depression.

To bring awareness to the struggles that come with mental health issues and to destigmatize those who struggle with same.

I have a son who committed suicide 3 1/2 yrs ago. This is in memory of him Scott Bishop. He is resting now in the Lord. How I miss him!!!

My grandfather committed suicide when I was young. Both of my parents are mentally ill.

This cause is worthy for more than one reason... I feel that it reaffirms to individuals that if they're feeling suicidal that there is help out there and reassures for them that their not alone. Also I'm so proud of the Bodelovich family and their accomplishments for taking a negative situation in their life and turning it into something so amazing and positive that will not only be a support system for them but an out reach program for others who may be going through or have went through a similar situation. The awareness is so important and it's about time that an event like this will take place within the community.

My mother is bipolar.

It's important and I want to help in any way I can

What words of encouragement/support would you want to give to someone contemplating suicide?

Please tell your doctor and your loved ones how you are feeling so that they can help you. There is always hope.

We can help you get through this here at UM.

Life is beautiful don't give up on it!

The sun will eventually come back out and shine. Be patient.

Seek help. Don't think you can do it alone.

There is hope.

You may think your pain will end but everyone else's will become worse. Every life is precious to someone!

That others love them and would really miss them.

Think about the pain you leave behind for your love ones to deal with everyday of their lives!

I would want them to know that they have a God who values their life and loves them. They were lovingly created and that they are special.

While these feelings are not permanent suicide is. There is someone out there that truly cares about you and wants to help you through this.

You're too important to us and we need you here.

My husband lost his life to cancer and did not have the choice to live - choose life.

Look for support and open up to family and friends.

Your family loves you and the world needs you.

This to shall pass.

It's not worth itthere's more to life than whatever is causing you grief.

Jesus is absolutely in love with you.

Life is full of rough patches. you can get through this. Help IS available you are NOT alone.

Life is short and beautiful. Noting is worth taking your own life. There are many good people and organizations that can help you understand your value and purpose in this world.

Suicide is a permenant solution to a problem that can be improved.

Talk to my mom! She is an awesome person if you need someone to listen to you!

That i am their friend and will help them get thru the yucky stuff.

There is light at the end of the tunnel and I will help you get there.

Think of the others you may be hurting.

Think of what the survivors will be left with...nothing.

to talk to others who went through similar situations.

When you are at the bottom there is no where to go but up if you are willing to seek help.

You are never alone. God is always here for you; all you have to do is call on Him.

You are special and have a purpose on this earth.

Life is precious. How is yours?

Getting better all the time.

I am just newly pregnant and expect my first child in October.

My life is fabulous! I thank God everyday for everything I have, my great support system, and little everyday miracles.

My life is full of blessings.

I thank God for it every day.

I'm blessed with a wonderful family and great group of friends.

Awesome. God has blessed me in so many ways I want to give back to others.

I do my best to live each day to the fullest! No matter how much negativity that is thrown my way during the course of a day I do my best to search for the positive in every obstacle no matter how small it might be. I feel that positive thoughts are a key to life and that they can be found in any situation as long as you look for them!

I would be lying if I said I too had not attempted suicide. I wanted a way out because I wanted the pain to stop. I always associated mental illness with being weak which only worsened my depression. I finally accepted that depression along with other mental illnesses are beyond the control of the sufferer. It is all about brain chemistry.

I am more and more aware of how precious it is with each coming day.

Fantastic.

Challenging but worth every minute.

Amazing. I have a 10-month old who I adore and an amazing husband.

Could be gone tomorrow. Sometimes very dark; sometimes very light. Find meaning and worth for it only when loving and being loved.
